Our bi-annual sailing trip with friends took us to Greece this year and the Saronic Islands south of Athens. The boat was a Lagoon 46, great for our purposes, supplied by Navigare Yachting. The weather was perfect and the islands lovely. We didn’t have as much wind as I would have liked but did get some sailing in. We visited some lovely ports/islands including Hydra, Poros and Egina.
Some video as we leave port.
After a week sailing we six went on to the island of Santorini – one of the most amazing places on the planet! We stayed in a little three villa complex, Thera Villas, directly facing the sunset!
Next up was four of us to take the fast ferry to the island of Naxos. A completely different feel but easily going into my list of favorite places. Quiet, pleasant, great food and people. And lovely beaches. We stayed at the fantastic Virtu Suites on the Beach. Wonderful people running the place and a great restaurant with service on the beach.
We also took a journey up into the mountains past the massive granite quarry to a small village to sample a cafe featuring locally raised meats that the same people raise and butcher. Gem of a find in Vasilarakiou in the village of Kynidaros.
Another, our 5th, sailing adventure down. Lovely good times!!
