New England – 2025

We started from just south of Boston and being in Boston seemed appropriate that we had this view out our hotel room window.

Heading from there we went to Newport Rhode Island as I wanted to show Red the neat old mansions. That didn’t work out too well as the entire place was fogged in so hard you could hardly see the buildings at all. Moving on we headed across Connecticut and visited Mark Twain’s home. Lovely place and a neat little museum to go with it.

That night we stayed in the Litchfield Inn in Litchfield Connecticut. The walls of our room were decorated drawings of the founding fathers of this country. As we decended into the beginning of our current political hellscape it was if they were either crying to judging.

Moving on the next day we went a short distance north to the historic Red Lion Inn opened in 1773 and operating continuously since then. Lovely place in the Berkshire region of Massachusetts. Beautiful countryside for a road trip!

Along the way we got to visit the Old Covered Bridge where supposedly there was an alien encounter with a UFO in 1969.

Next we were off to Manchester Center, VT to see an old friend and his new fiancée. Was great to speed a few days with them and see this lovely area of Vermont including the quarry where all of the locally used granite came from over the last 400 years!

Next was on accross Vermont and New Hampshire to end up in Kennebunkport Maine. Wonderfully lovely seaside town with a fantastic hotel stay at the White Barn Inn, that believe it or not has a fleet of Mercedes free for use including a Maybach! Also the welcome cider with bourbon was a nice touch.

Lastly we make our way back to Boston with a stop, of course, at Salem to checkout the witches. And wouldn’t you know it here’s the first grave stone we looked at in the cemetary.

Then an easy flight home. More of America visited!!
