Bali & Wakatobi – Indonesia 2012

Having been to Wakatobi resort in 2003 I couldn’t wait to return.  The diving there is pristine and the resort is over the top for divers.  Since then the owner had purchased and refurbished the Pelagian dive yacht so we decided to combine the two into one long trip.

We flew out of Vancouver on Eva Air, saving $2000 by driving up north, and landed in Bali 24 hrs later.  We met up with our friends from Wales that we meet on our 2010 trip up at a small lovely hotel in the northeast section of Bali.  Anda Amed resort is a little British run place in a small town on the coast.  Graham and I got some local diving in out of dugout canoes and warmed up for the coming weeks. Red and Margaret enjoyed the pool.

We then took the charter flight up to Sulawesi and were transported to the Pelagian dive yacht.  WOW what a dive boat.  Luxury knew no bounds.  You hardly thought you were on the boat!  And the diving was fantastic.

After a week of pampering and fantastic diving, and snorkeling for Red, we headed over to Wakatobi and spent five days there continuing the great diving and enjoying the luxury of the land based operation.

After Wakatobi we headed back to Bali and enjoyed some time in Ubud and the monkey forest.

All together a wonderful time that we got to spend with existing friends and even made some new ones for future diving adventures!

For more details on the operations see Red’s travel blog.

Share the trip by checking out the underwater photos and some of the land activities. Enjoy!
